F.A.M.E. Awards Prove Fast and Fun
By: Peter Warren Posted to avn.com: 10:30 pm PDT 6-24-2006
LOS ANGELES - Those who truly make porn performers into stars — the fans — gathered in throngs at the rear left corner of the Los Angeles Convention Center Saturday night to watch the biggest luminaries in the biz take the stage for the first ever F.A.M.E. Awards (Fans of Adult Media and Entertainment).
Essentially porn's answer to the People's Choice Awards, the winners at this show were decided entirely by fans, through a Website (thefameawards.com) where nominees were whittled down in a series of voting rounds.
Hosted by Carmen Luvana, Tommy Gunn and comedian "The Reverend" Bob Levy, the awards show was fast-paced and snappy, with few surprises, but lots of cheers and ecstatic thanks.
Levy conducted the opening monologue, cracking jokes about Ron Jeremy ("I'm not saying he's out of shape, but he's the only male porn star who can titty-fuck himself,") husband-to-Jenna Jay Gardina ("I would fuck you to fuck her"), and an extended rant on queefs.
The first presenters were power couple Tera Patrick and Evan Seinfeld, who handed the teardrop-shaped Lucite trophy for Favorite Oral Starlet to hostess Luvana, and that for Favorite Butt to Jenna Haze. Haze, who cried, "Wow!" as she got up from her seat, exclaimed from the podium, "That's crazy, I have like the smallest butt of any of these girls! It's 'cause I can take the big cocks in my ass, that's why."
Digital Playground contract sisters Jesse Jane and Teagan Presley presented the next two awards, with (in almost the least shocking victory of the evening) Jules Jordan taking Favorite Director and Stormy Daniels being granted the Favorite Breasts prize, for which she thanked "my plastic surgeon, 'cause I guess it's a job well done."
Favorite Feature Movie (in the absolute least shocking victory of the evening) went to Digital Playground/Adam & Eve's Pirates, while Favorite Gonzo Movie was picked up by Belladonna/Evil Angel's Belladonna: No Warning.
Jenna Jameson was surprised to win the Hottest Body award, telling AVN.com after the show, "I was really flattered, of course, but you know who I think has the greatest body? Jesse Jane. Oh my god, her ass is just perfect!"
Jameson also took Favorite Adult Actress, while The Perfect Slut (awarded to the "dirtiest girl in porn") went to an elated Taryn Thomas, who campaigned for months on MySpace to get votes. Obviously, the same tactic worked for other nominees, as Alektra Blue in her acceptance speech for Rookie Starlet of the Year (which she tied with Brandy Talore) voiced a big thank you to her MySpace fans.
Wrapping up within about 30 minutes, Levy closed the show by shouting, "C'mon guys, let's go fuck some whores!" Brash? Yes. Apropos? More or less.
The F.A.M.E. Awards were sponsored by Adam & Eve, Genesis magazine, WantedList and AVN. The complete list of winners follows:
Favorite Adult Actress: Jenna Jameson

By: Carlos Martinez Posted to avn.com: 3:45 pm PDT 4-24-2006
Comedian and radio host, the Rev. Bob Levy has been named master of ceremonies for the Fans of Adult Media & Entertainment Awards or F.A.M.E.
Levy, known for his regular appearances on the Howard Stern Show, will join Adam & Eve contract star Carmen Luvana and veteran adult performer Tommy Gunn who will host the June 24 event at the Los Angeles Convention Center during Erotica LA.
"It will be an honor to meet all of the girls that I have spent many nights alone watching," Levy said.
"Hopefully, I can keep from getting too excited onstage, working with Carmen Luvana, but it’s going to be a good time. At least for me. Hopefully, I won’t scare Carmen and the other girls too much."
The awards show will honor adult industry stars and personalities as picked by the fans who will vote in a variety of categories. They are Favorite Adult Feature Movie, Favorite Female Starlet, Favorite Male Star, Favorite Gonzo Movie, Favorite Director, Rookie Starlet of the Year, Favorite Oral Starlet, Favorite Anal Starlet, Hottest (Female) Body, Best Breasts and Best Butt.
Fans will also select a so-called "Wild Card" where they can choose the final awards category from choices such as Favorite Adult Star Website, Adult News Story of the Year, Funniest Adult Movie Title and Celebrity Couple You Most Want to See in a Sex Video.
Those interested in voting may do so by going online at the event's official Web site, www.thefameawards.com. Voting is scheduled to continue right up until the show, said Dan Davis, editor-in-chief of Genesis magazine and one of the organizers of the event.
"The voting turnout's been awesome," he said.
"Obviously we can't say who's doing what, but there's a good cross section of adult stars in the categories (getting votes)."
Meanwhile, a list of voting finalists will be issued on May 1.

This is already a huge success in our eyes and it's only going to grow from here."

The awards show takes place on June 24th at Erotica LA and the Los Angeles Convention Center and will be free to attend for those who purchased tickets for the convention.
In a telephone press conference call yesterday, sponsors of the F.A.M.E. Awards including Bob Christian of Adam & Eve (www.adameve.com), Dan Davis of Genesis magazine (www.genesisonline.com), Anh Tran of WantedList (www.wantedlist.com) and Paul Fishbein of AVN (www.avn.com) also made the announcement that the F.A.M.E. Awards website is up and running and that fans 18 years of age and older could now start making nominations in the dozen categories listed on the site.
These 12 categories, which were also announced, include: Favorite Adult Feature Movie, Favorite Female Starlet, Favorite Male Star, Favorite Gonzo Movie, Favorite Director, Rookie Starlet of the Year, Favorite Oral Starlet, Favorite Anal Starlet, Hottest (Female) Body, Best Breasts and Best Butt. There will also be a fan-selected "Wild Card" where voters can choose the final awards category from choices such as Favorite Adult Star Website, Adult News Story of the Year, Funniest Adult Movie Title and Celebrity Couple You Most Want To See in a Sex Video. The top recipient of votes will become the twelfth and final category. Fans will be able to nominate finalists (either from names listed or via a write-in box) until May 1, 2006, where the top five vote getters in each category will then move onto the final round of voting which will run until the F.A.M.E. Awards Show.
Anh Tran (of adult movie rental by mail website WantedList.com), whose company developed the proprietary technology used for the F.A.M.E. Awards website voting process, ensured that a variety of security measures are being employed so that there will be no "unfair ballot stuffing. The software we're using was made especially for this (event)," Tran said. "We're guarding against any voter fraud." He went on to add that some of these processes include voters using a valid email address and the logging of IPs to prevent votes being counted more than once.
F.A.M.E. hostess Carmen Luvana says, "The adult business is about the fans. They are the reason a star or a movie is a success… it's about time they had their say and I'm happy to be a part of this historical event."
Tommy Gunn was also "excited and honored" to host this historic event. "To be considered at this stage in my career for something so in the forefront is amazing. I'm clearing my schedule!" the always-busy actor said when he was asked to host the event. "This is going to be great and we're going to have a good time with the fans. I'm thrilled to be a part of this and the fans are the whole reason we're here."
"We wanted to create something that was made for and decided by the fans," said Dan Davis, Genesis' Editor-in-Chief, "and we think both the stars and fans will enjoy this whole experience. We urge the fans to vote, and much like a presidential election, if you didn't vote, you can't complain. Support your favorite stars and movies." Paul Fishbein, AVN's president, said the event enhances Erotica L.A. by giving fans a chance to see the winners they themselves picked. "It ties right into the trade show, so why not get involved in this and bring in more fans?" he asked. "We're proud to be part of a show that gives the fans a voice, since they're the ones who ultimately decide which stars and products are popular. And we are especially proud to be in partnership with such fine companies as WantedList, Adam & Eve and Genesis magazine."
First Annual F.A.M.E. Awards to Debut at Erotica LA
By: Larissa Gates Posted to AVN.com: 7:00 pm PST 2-24-2006
LOS ANGELES - Erotica LA will host the first annual F.A.M.E. Awards (Fans of Adult Media & Entertainment) at 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 24 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
What separates the F.A.M.E. Awards from various other award shows is that the top stars and movies of the past year in adult will be chosen exclusively by the fans, making this a unique, interactive show.
While there are numerous other award shows in adult businesses, we wanted to create one where the true critics — the fans — could pick their favorites in the categories that matter most to them, "explained Dan Davis, editor-in-chief of Genesis. "The fans will be the ones pre-nominating the performers and movies, choosing the finalists, and ultimately naming the winners. These are their awards."
Bob Christian, vice president of Adam & Eve, added, "Adam & Eve is sponsoring these awards in order to give the fans of adult movies and entertainment a real voice to tell the industry what they like best. Other awards use industry insiders to determine winners — F.A.M.E. listens to the real consumers and users of the products."
Fans above the age of 18 can go to the F.A.M.E. website (www.thefameawards.com) and vote on nominations in the appropriate categories until March 15. The finalists in each category will be announced shortly thereafter based on the pre-nomination results and voting will continue until June 23.
"We always thought that an awards show based on consumer choices was a great idea," remarked Paul Fishbein, president of AVN. "Obviously the AVN Awards are more for the trade and are picked by the critics. We're proud to be part of a show that gives the fans a voice, since they're the ones who ultimately decide which stars and products are popular. And we are especially proud to be in partnership with such fine companies as WantedList, Adam & Eve and Genesis magazine."
Anh Tran, co-founder of WantedList, agreed.
"We're really honored to be a part of a project that involves so many great companies," he said. "For us, this award show is part of our ongoing commitment to bring the adult world closer to the fans."
Hosts for the F.A.M.E. Awards will be announced in the coming weeks.
